Colombia
Adoption
Advocate for Colombia
Overview
The Colombian adoption program is considered well-established and stable. It is a restrictive program, with a strong preference for small families with relatively young parents. Infants are most often placed with couples under the age of 38. Older children may be placed with single moms and couples around the age of 40 years.

Children Available: There are healthy infants available, who can be placed around the age of 6-9 months. There are also many beautiful toddlers, siblings and school age children. Special needs children are also in need of families.

Parent Qualifications: Couples married a minimum of 3 years are preferred. Single women accepted for special needs children or children over 5 years old

Travel: One trip of 4-8 weeks is required, with one parent needing to stay in-country the entire time.

Timeline: A referral of a child comes within 6-10 months after submission of dossier. For those adopting older, waiting children, the time can be greatly decreased.
