Overview
There are few agencies with programs in the Republic of Georgia. At the time of the writing, the laws for adoption of children are not complete and thus, the country is not considered a good-risk for adoption. Please be sure and join an adoption email group and check out the state department website for the most up-to-date information.

Children Available: There are infants, toddlers and school age children available.

Parent Qualifications: Georgian government accepts applications from married couples, single women and in some cases also single men and also older couples. A single parent or a couple up to 55 years old can adopt a baby. The adoptive parents shall be 16 years older than the child they are adopting.

Travel: Both parents will have to travel to Georgia and be there for 2 weeks.

Timeline: After your dossier is complete, referrals generally take about 1-4 months. Travel is 1-2 months after that.
