| Overview |
| Uzbekistan, located in Central Asia, is a country rich in culture and history and also in population. Its international adoption program is relatively new with few agencies placing children from this country.
Children Available: Children of all ages are available for adoption. Children reside in state-run orphanages while waiting for a family. Children may be of Uzbek, Russian, Ukrainian, German, Mongol or Tatar in racial background. Special needs children are available as well.
Parents Qualification: Married couples and single women may adopt, with the maximum of 45 years age difference between mother and child (Example: a woman age 50 could adopt a 5 year old, etc). Couples must be married for at least 1 year.
Timeline: This is a new program. At the time of this writing, the averate time from dossier completion to receiving referral is approximately 3- 6 months.
Travel: Both parents should travel in case of an adoptive couple. A single of trip of average 2 weeks is required to finalize the adoption in Uzbekistan.
Post Placement Requirements:Uzbekistan requires on average 4 post placement reports after the adoption is finalized at the following intervals: 6 months, 1 year , 2 year, 3 year. |
