I am the adoptive mom of an older, special needs, African American child.  We are an interracial family.  I recently published a series of three novels inspired by my son.  We met when he was eight years old and living in foster care.  We did not know that he had Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.  Ten years later we reunited with his birth father who confirmed that my son had pre-natal alcohol exposure.  I wrote the 9 LIVES Trilogy to raise awareness of FASD.  The books target preteens, teenagers, those living with FASD, and their parents.  www.jancrossen.com  9 LIVES: I Will Survive; 9 LIVES: Cat Tales; & 9 LIVES: Full Circle.
